holeinsven

I am a CPA and sit at a computer all day, but I’m also young and enjoying being active; however, sometimes I have a hard time finding balance. One of the things I struggle with most is portion control or telling myself that I don’t need fries today (I need fries every day!). I have tried several other diets but don’t like being told that I can’t eat something. My clothes don’t fit as well anymore, and, since I’m a cheap CPA, I won’t spend money to buy new ones—plus I’d rather just lose the weight anyway! What I really need is a program that will teach me how to make smart choices and control my portions while allowing me to eat things I enjoy once in a while.

Feeling Better

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|January 15, 2012

Last week on the caonference call, Candice mentioned how she would prefer to not have us weigh in all the time and just go by how we are feeling.   I always like seeing results on the scale but this week I am definitely feeling good!  I finally made it to the gym each day and …

Victory and weakness

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|January 10, 2012

I am down 4 pounds this week which honestly makes me feel so great.  Getting on that scale and seeing that result is so motivating.  It makes me feel slimmer than I actually am   But along with that great feeling of accomplishment comes rationalization…I am down 4 pounds so I can have a few …

Resolutions - early and late

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|January 3, 2012

Welcome to the easiest time of year to lose weight – when everyone is throwing away extra treats and trying extra hard to eat healthy.  Lucky for me, I got my wife and some friends on board.  We have some close friends who do weight watchers and they are being super good about it right …

Small successes

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|December 29, 2011

So I had a small breakthrough this week.  I usually need a break during the day and it turns out to be during lunch.  I have some great co-workers and we like to go to lunch a lot and vent and hang out.  Well I knew that I needed to make a change and stop …

Holidays

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|December 20, 2011

I usually don’t have very much self-control and the little self-control that I do have disappears during the holidays when all the homemade treats are around. I can usually withstand the store bought stuff, except salted mixed nuts! Fantastic! I am still trying to do all things in moderation though and am having some success. …

4 weeks in and...

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|December 13, 2011

Starting over!   I just got back from a cruise and now I’m on a business trip in Mexico.  I gained 6 pounds on the cruise which by all accounts is actually really good – normally I’m up 10-15 pounds from a cruise.  I actually had a good breakthrough on the cruise where I stopped …

Off the wagon

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|December 3, 2011

Well I fell off the wagon this week – funny that I had such strong willpower for Thanksgiving and then just gave up this week.  I think subconsciously I told myself that I was going on a cruise so it didn’t matter how this week played out.  But one thing I’ve realized is there’s always …

Thanksgiving down, Cruise next

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|November 26, 2011

I sucessfully survived Thanksgiving – dinner was later in the afternoon so it left me time for two workouts – 15 miles on the bike and the Men’s Health Spartacus workout.  I only had one plate at dinner and after sitting there watching other people eat more I actually felt full and started to wonder …

First week

Posted in: Weight Loss Blog|November 22, 2011

I was actually pretty proud of myself for my eating habits this week.  I’ve done a good job of maintaining self-control and portion control.  The thing I was most proud of this week was the fact that I turned down a temptation everyday whether it was brownies, cookie dough, donuts, or something else.  I find …
